I'm still perplexed that society at large confuses "going viral" for news. Or more importantly, that there's still no recognition of the difference between 30 seconds of attention that's forgotten forever and lasting impact. Or even more important: no recognition of the difference between attention and trust.

That narratives about social media conflate one for the other is perhaps the most regrettable aspect. When we cannot tell a dumpster fire at a fireworks factory from climate change, we're too busy chasing squirrels to do any meaningful work.

The conflation of 'viral' and 'significant' is definitely one of the most regrettable aspects of our age — truth.

I would also be remiss in not giving a shoutout to my wife, who worked with the Casgevy team on the communications strategy with MHRA approval. Also some sneaky press release jumping in the UK to steal a little thunder from the planned U.S. approval.
